Key Lime Pie

According to legend, Key lime pie was created in Key West during the 1890s by a mysterious woman known only as "Aunt Sally." Regardless of the backstory, Key lime became a beloved tradition around Sarasota homes for sale and Bradenton homes for sale. Savor this summer favorite at these great local restaurants recommended by our real estate agents.

Caribbean Pie Company - 2245 Bee Ridge Rd., Sarasota, FL 34239
Pie a la mode is a classic dessert, but the Caribbean Pie Company goes one better with their signature Key Lime Pie-on-a-Stick. A piece of their award-winning Key lime pie is placed on a stick and dipped in luscious Belgian chocolate. The Key lime bars and bites also make great portable treats. Of course, you can get a traditional Key lime pie as well. Hours are 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on weekends.
Yoder's of Pinecraft - 3434 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota, FL 34239
In the 1970s, Levi and Amanda Yoder sold their Nappanee, IN farm and relocated to Sarasota. They poured their life savings into an eatery that they renamed Yoder's of Pinecraft. Levi's warm personality and Amanda's delicious cooking made a visit to Yoder's like an evening at "Mom's dinner table." Their exquisite Key lime pie and other baked good have earned frequent "Best Homemade Desserts" awards. Yoder's is open from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. every day but Sunday.

Located in Cortez Village, designated as a National Historic District, Tide Tables proudly serves high-quality dishes made with Florida's iconic foods. Tide Tables is open daily from 11:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.

How good are the Key lime pies from Mermaid Pies & Sandwiches? The restaurant has been an award-winning competitor in the American Pie Council's prestigious National Pie Championships. Enjoy a slice after a meal of seafood, soup, or sandwiches, and pick up a whole pie to take home afterward. Mermaid Pies & Sandwiches is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Breezy Bakery shares the nickname of its founder, Bri Suzano, a pastry chef who honed her craft at high-end hotels across the United States. It was at one of these stops where she met her partner, Travis Roy. Breezy's Key lime pie is so delicious that some devoted customers order it for their birthday cake. If you prefer to stick with classics, Breezy has Key lime cakes also. Hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 8 a.m. - noon Sunday.
Flo's Bakery & Gifts - 7642 Tamiami Trl. S., Sarasota, FL 34231
Don't let dietary needs make you feel deprived. Flo's Bakery & Gifts offers a gluten-free Key lime pie that accommodates your food sensitivities without sacrificing taste. Meanwhile, chocoholics rejoice! Flo's also has a Key lime pie topped with a lattice of mouthwatering chocolate. For a bite-sized treat, try the Key lime cookies with chocolate chips or coconut. As if that's not enough, the menu includes Key lime scones and cheesecake bars. Flo's is open 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
